SWAN SCHOOL
(2021-22 Project Grant)
Neighborhood deer were breaking into Swan School’s teaching garden on a regular basis. The gate and less-than-adequate metal posts were especially vulnerable; head teacher Emily Gohn noted that trying to keep the garden secure with a broom handle was just not working.
Swan School has a strong volunteer base, but not much money for such “extra” projects. The $750 grant was enough to buy stout fencing supports and an irrigation timer. A few work parties later, and Swan School had an enlarged teaching garden area surrounded by stout fencing.
