North Beach Community Garden

A rotting worm bin prompted North Beach Community Garden to request assistance with purchasing a new bin. After consultation with the JCMGF Grants Committee, they decided to purchase a “Hungry Bin.” The flow-through system makes feeding the composting worms simple enough that educating the neighbors who contribute vegetable and fruit scraps is easy; harvesting worm castings is also much simpler than other styles of worm bins.
The group also requested money to buy materials for a raised vegetable bed that would be more comfortable for their aging gardeners than those that are flush with the ground.
